Lens basics

Help you quickly understand the key concepts of lenses and choose the product that best suits your camera.

What is the difference between APS-C and Full-Frame? Which one is better for me?

Full-Frame sensors are larger, delivering superior image quality, better low-light performance, wider dynamic range, and more natural bokeh. APS-C is more compact and affordable but has a crop factor (1.5x for Sony/Fuji, 1.6x for Canon). Brightin Star offers both Full-Frame and APS-C lenses — please check the product page.

What mount is my camera? Which Brightin Star lens should I choose?

Brightin Star lenses are available for major mirrorless mounts: Sony E, Canon RF, Canon EOS-M, Leica M, Nikon Z, and L-mount (Leica/Sigma/Panasonic). Please confirm the exact mount on the product page before purchasing.

Can I use a Full-Frame lens on an APS-C camera? And vice versa?

Yes, Full-Frame lenses work on APS-C cameras (with automatic crop). APS-C lenses on Full-Frame cameras will cause heavy vignetting and are not recommended.

Do Brightin Star lenses support autofocus (AF) or manual focus (MF) only?

We offer both AF (Autofocus) and MF (Manual Focus) series. AF lenses have electronic contacts and support EXIF data. MF lenses offer better value and creative control. Please check the product page.

Product Information & Specifications

Learn about Brightin Star lens specifications and warranty policies for a worry-free purchase.

Are Brightin Star lenses original manufacturer (OEM) lenses?

No. Brightin Star is a professional third-party lens brand offering high-quality, high-value optics for Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fuji, and other mirrorless cameras.

Do the lenses have electronic contacts? Can they record EXIF data?

AF lenses have electronic contacts for auto aperture and full EXIF data. MF lenses are fully mechanical with no electronic contacts.

What is the warranty period and coverage?

All products come with a 2-year warranty covering manufacturing defects under normal use. Human damage, disassembly, or counterfeit products are not covered.

Usage & Shooting Tips

Master the correct installation and shooting methods to quickly take great photos.

How do I install the lens and start shooting?

Align the mount marks and rotate clockwise until it clicks. For MF lenses, enable “Release without Lens” in your camera menu. AF lenses work immediately after mounting.

My AF lens focuses slowly or inaccurately. What should I do?

Clean the contacts, update your camera firmware, try single-point or continuous AF, and increase ISO in low light. Contact us with your camera + lens model if issues persist.

My MF lens photos are always out of focus. How do I focus properly?

Enable Focus Peaking in your camera (highlighted edges on Sony/Fuji). Use a tripod and magnified view for best results.

The focus/aperture ring turns freely with no resistance. Is this normal?

Yes, this is normal for manual lenses. It does not affect image quality.

Troubleshooting

Quickly resolve common issues yourself and reduce waiting time.

The camera shows “No Lens” / F00 / cannot release shutter.

For MF lenses, enable “Release without Lens”. For AF lenses, ensure the mount is fully locked and restart the camera.

The lens has slight wobble after mounting.

This is normal mount tolerance to prevent damage. Slight movement does not affect image quality.

Photos show purple fringing, chromatic aberration, or vignetting.

Common in backlit or wide-open aperture shots. Stop down 1-2 stops or correct in post-processing.
